Fast forward 18 months…

Well….

Apologies for the delay (all 18 months of it),

I know you have all been patiently waiting for the much-anticipated next episode of “how not to row across an ocean” Force horizon style.

However, to our surprise we are actually executing the plan to a T, kinda.

But let me go back in time and catch you up on a few things, like L DOGGGGGG!

L Dog, formally known Lauren Key is Force Horizon’s new social media genie! Chris spent a number of days spamming hundreds of potential media managers, 400 hundred to be precise! The only person to respond…..our L Dog! And luckily for us she is a diamond! We have never been so organised when it comes to media. Since Lauren joined the team we have been interviewed several times and our presence among the ocean rowing community is growing! She interviewed myself and Chris and the International Bomber Command Centre on separate occasions, Chris in glorious sunshine, myself in torrential rain! The content of which will be drip fed through our socials throughout the campaign! Exciting!!

We went back to school! Literally.

We were invited back to our old stomping ground, the amazing “St. Georges Academy” by the Jon Egging Trust. The place where me and Chris first met on day one of secondary school over 20 years ago!  We were invited by JET to talk about the challenges we faced at a young age for their “My Why” project that will be shown in Kensington Palace in October! Very cool, very posh. We both agreed that it was quite daunting to be sat on a film set talking about things that we don’t often discuss, but in a weird way it felt quite therapeutic and has solidified our purpose and motivation for the row. The confidence and support we have already received from JET has been amazing and we hope we can do something special and raise a lot of money for them.

Rannoch Adventure!!!

We visited Charlie Pitcher and the team at Rannoch for a tour of the facilities and to talk business! When we arrived a very energetic and excited Charlie met us and instantly offered us a beer from the back of his Land Rover. In my head I was like “I want this guy to build my boat”. Charlie spent hours showing us every step of the production and offered us sound advice throughout. We left there with a build slot secured and we can’t wait to welcome our new R25, due to be complete May 24!

Chris and Kip world tour continues…

Chris has relocated to Tanzania with work on a very big project! But the biggest project of all is getting his work gym squared away! And time passes by new pieces of equipment appear and I personally can’t wait to hear how his 60 miles on a static bike (all for JET Rides) goes! Funny.

I have been bouncing around the globe also! A short trip to Africa myself, followed by a 4 month stay in Iraq where i grew the greatest moustache know to man, followed by a glorious 2 week holiday in Italy! I will also be taking part in JET rides in Sept, but on a road bike because i am smart.

Hopefully that fills in the last 18 months or so! As always, thank you to all the 250 club members! You are the reason we have been able to put the deposit down on the boat! A few sponsorship discussions to be had in the next few months and we should be in a good place….fingers crossed!

Till the next time!
